DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.  The high school student association is designed to compliment classroom marketing curriculum.  To participate in DECA, students enroll in a marketing class and then elect to affiliate with DECA by enrolling in their local school-based chapter.  Participation includes a variety of co-curricular activities, designed to provide leadership development through the application of knowledge presented in the classroom.  A critical element of the leadership development is the emulation of real business experiences, designed around central elements of business, marketing and entrepreneurship. Through this participation, DECA instills values and skills that develop high school students into leaders.

Wisconsin DECA currently has approximately 10,000 members in 100 chapters throughout Wisconsin.  It is the fifth largest chartered association in the international organization.
