Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a motivated Lead Hardware Quality Engineer to join our growing team. In this key role, you will drive success and improvement by effectively developing and implementing quality assurance methods and protocols for your assigned area. You will collaborate with Program Management, Production, and Engineering to ensure products are developed, manufactured, and delivered to our customers with the highest level of quality.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Primary point of contact for all quality issues on assigned program.

  • Lead interdisciplinary program quality team including Software Quality, Inspection, and Supplier Quality

  • Contract review, quality program planning, and requirements flow-down.

  • Develop quality performance estimates for cost proposals and project scheduling.

  • Supplier Quality management on assigned program(s).

  • ECR/N generation, review, and CCB participation.

  • Identify and disposition nonconforming material.

  • Chair of Material Review Board

  • Internal manufacturing product support

  • Planning and conduct of internal product/process audits.

  • Support for 2nd and 3rd party audits.

  • Identify, communicate, and execute value-added process improvements/initiatives.

  • Influence activities during program execution in accordance with internal standards.

  • Data and Trend analysis

  • Oracle ERP database management.

  • Monitor and track Corrective Action Requests and Corrective Action Plans

  • Prevent the shipment of nonconforming material and/or products through in-process and/or final inspection.

Compensation Range: $108,000-$137,700

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline is required. Master's degree is a plus.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with expertise in the Department of Defense (DoD) industry a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) programs, procedures, and processes.

  • Working knowledge of Quality System Management per ISO 9001:2015.

  • Working knowledge of SEI CMMI Level 3 V2.0 requirements a plus.

  • Technical knowledge of Electro/Mechanical products/processes and related special processes.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent organization and time management/multi-tasking skills.

  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experiences with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Project, etc.

  • ASQ - Certified Quality Engineer is a plus.

  • IPC certifications or other related industry certifications is a plus.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
