This position involves journey-level professional civil engineering work in two distinct settings: the Consultant Design Squad and the In-House Design Squad. In the Consultant Design Squad, the main responsibilities include preparing and conducting technical design reviews for submissions and plans related to highway, bridge, and multi-modal projects of varying complexity levels. Additionally, this role involves preparing scopes of work, advertisements, and agreements using ECMS (Electronic Contract Management System) for projects that will be contracted with consultants. The engineer is also responsible for estimating the man-hours required for engineering tasks and reviewing consultant proposals to determine the most qualified consultants for the job. Furthermore, you will assist in the consultant selection process, meet with consultants to address any project-related inquiries, review and provide feedback on consultants' proposed man-hour estimates and technical approach to the scope of work, and review consultant invoices for payment preparation.
