Job Description

PsiQuantum is on a mission to build the world's first fault tolerant quantum computer capable of tackling today's most intractable computational challenges to deliver transformative results. We know that means it will need roughly 1 million qubits and will be building scale in size.

Quantum computing is expected to deliver breakthroughs for today's still impossible computational tasks. By harnessing the laws of quantum physics, quantum computers can provide exponential performance increases over even the most powerful of today's conventional supercomputers offering the potential for extraordinary advances across a broad range of applications including climate, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials design, and many more.

PsiQuantum is uniquely positioned to deliver on the promise of quantum computing. Our architecture is based on photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components using high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that have been applied in telecommunications and data center applications for decades. Since photons don't feel heat, we can take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems, the kind that have been operating at facilities like Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC) since 2018. And because photons are basically light, they can move between subsystems using standard fiber connectivity, without the need for transduction in and out.

Our team is working across the full stack of quantum computing, from quantum architecture to photonic chip manufacturing, advanced opto-electronic packaging, hardware systems design, quantum algorithms and software tools, and cryogenic cooling. We're a highly motivated and collaborative group focused on a singular goal - building the world's first Fault Tolerant Quantum Computer on the fastest path possible.

There's more work to be done and we are looking for exceptional talent to join us on this extraordinary journey!

Job Summary:

PsiQuantum is singularly focused on the delivery of a useful utility-scale fault tolerant quantum computer. In addition to deploying a world-class quantum computer, we aim to deliver a world-class quantum user experience to both our external customers and internal developers. This will require the development of a novel, production-grade software system which will enable the delivery of both external enterprise products and internal quantum DevOps toolchains to interact with multiple generations of our system.

The User Experience Engineer (UXE) is responsible for development, and deployment of user interfaces and experiences for PsiQuantum's products and tools. The UXE will work closely with the Lead UX Engineer and both internal/external users to assess their needs for front-end tools and visual interfaces, from which they will produce technical tool requirements and specifications. They will then turn these designs into programs to delight our customers via writing concise, well-architected front-end and back-end code. They will also work closely with the PsiQuantum product team to ensure all developed UIs/UXs support the broader product strategy and conform to PsiQuantum branding and style guides. Through their tight integration with the Quantum Applications team, they will also be responsible for identifying new potential interfaces that will help enable the team to work more efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain front-end applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship.
  • Ensure testing and quality assurance best practices.
  • Continuous learning and adaptation.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science and/or visual/graphic design or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of development of large-scale platforms or tool frameworks.
  • Experience with containerization of applications.
  • Experience with major web frameworks (Sveltekit, React, Flask, Express, Tailwind)
  • Domain knowledge in several coding languages and systems including JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Node.js.
  • Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills (samples required).
  • Experience with deployment of code in distributed environments, cloud application development, and RESTful APIs.
  • Proven team player with an ability to work effectively across departments, sites, and time zones.
  • A results-driven "doer", preferably with experience in a high-throughput, rapid-delivery work environment.
  • A problem solver, with an analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a fast-moving start-up environment.
