JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior Plant Accountant Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and material cost analysis of a specific product line.
  • Understand sales price and material cost changes and explain variances to forecast.
  • The Senior Plant Accountant Performs ad-hoc financial analysis to understand trends and identify issues. Present financial analysis to financial team and other operations personnel.
  • Month end tasks are critical to this role. Prepare various journal entries to accrue sales, material costs, expenses, labor costs, perform depreciation analysis, and other necessary reclass entries.
  • Support in preparation of month end operations package.
  • Specific accounts will be assigned for monthly account reconciliations.
  • Monthly SOX reports and review. Audit readiness and support in gathering documentation for auditors.
  • Support in the forecasting process in sales, material cost, and standard costs. Working with other areas such as sales, operations, etc. to gather assumptions.
  • Support in other areas as needed such as labor cost analysis, inventory, AR review, and capital.
  • Updates daily and weekly reports for staff meetings.
  • Responsible for fixed asset management including maintaining fixed asset files by asset, tracking CAR spending, tagging all assets, CIP reconciliation, and asset capitalization.
  • Performs other duties assigned or deemed necessary by the Plant Controller.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required. Knowledge of basic accounting theory and methods.
  • Three to Five years related work experience. Preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and pressure
  • Extensive use of MS Excel. Preferred general knowledge of MRP & SAP systems.
  • Looking for someone who is self-motivated, eager to learn, has a strong work ethic, and is detail oriented.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a standardized, systematic process.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
