HDR currently has an opening for a Water Resources EIT/Designer to join our outstanding team of professionals in our San Antonio or Austin, Texas office. The primary duties of the Water Resources EIT/ Designer include working under project engineers on a variety of engineering planning, design and modeling tasks in the development of water resource project deliverables for federal, state and local municipal clients.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Water Resources EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:

  • Apply Technical skills and sound judgement to support complex projects and multiple variables
  • Specific duties include: data collection and assessment, field reconnaissance, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, design of stormwater and civil infrastructure, and developing planning level cost estimates
  • Typical projects include: 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design for flood mitigation, drainage master plans, water quality, erosion mitigation, stream restoration, dams and reservoirs, and transportation drainage projects.
  • Candidate will produce design calculations, perform analyses and design in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software and GIS/CAD, and perform construction administration for water resources projects.
  • Candidate will also help prepare draft technical memorandums and reports, and public/client presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Knowledge of Hydrologic and Hydraulic models such as: TCEQ Water Avalibility Midel (WAM), TWDB Uniform Costing Model, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, ESRI ArcGIS
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Candidates must be able to prepare written technical reports, have excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact with clients
  • Ability to effectively organize and complete multiple tasks in a schedule-sensitive environment
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently and with a project team through completion of a task
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to candidates local to Texas
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Master's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Water Resources/Stormwater
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D
