Position Highlights: Billing Representative II

  • Position: Billing Representative II
  • Location: Warrenville, IL
  • Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, Standard Business Hours

What you will do:

  • Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Determine billable claims, make necessary corrections, and submit claims for reimbursement.
  • Monitors accounts for those that are delinquent. Utilizes various report tools, such as Work Queues, aged trial balance reports and other electronic methods to follow up on unpaid claims.
  • Analyze patient demographic and claim information to ensure accuracy and compliance with insurance requirement. Make necessary corrections in computer system and/or claim as needed.
  • Appeal claims denials and work to resolve outstanding issues with insurance companies.
  • Generate and review reports related to billing and collections. Updates the supervisor of PFS of error trends.
  • Communicate with Coding, Revenue Integrity, and Patient Access departments to address and correct billing issues.
  • Review and perform refund and/or adjustments on accounts that have a credit balance identified, Contacts patients and insurance companies to resolve possible overpayment when credit amount is in question.
  • Researches all billing/collecting issues and resolves them to ensure appropriate insurance payment and patient balance amounts.
  • Reviews payment vouchers when necessary to ensure appropriate balance due on accounts and performs adjustments when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by PFS management.

What you will need:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and the collection cycle and Government payers' reimbursement policies.

Experience:

  • Minimum one year of previous hospital medical billing and collections is required.
  • Knowledge of governmental billing and reimbursement practices.
  • Experience working with various insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Knowledge of a hospital's revenue cycle from patient scheduling and registration through billing and collection.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and regulations related to medical billing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Understanding of Explanation of Benefits documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to Work in a High-Pressure Environment: Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
