The 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) initiative is part of a national investment to unlock the growth and job creation potential of small businesses and is based on the broadly held view of leading experts that a combination of education, business support services, and access to capital best addresses the barriers to growth for small businesses.

The 10,000 Small Businesses program has three main components: business education, business support services (technical assistance and customized, one-on-one business advising) and the opportunity to access capital. The ultimate goal of the initiative is for the participating business owners to increase their revenues and create jobs in their community and surrounding areas.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator reports to the GS10KSB Director and assists with the day-to-day operations of the 10KSB program and will work closely with the GS10KSB team, ICIC, a Goldman Sachs recruitment partner, and Babson College, who serves as our National Academic Partner. This role is instrumental in assisting with the recruitment, application and selection process, program logistics, and coordinating key meetings and activities. This position is a provisional position and is funded through a grant or contract. Annual position renewal is contingent upon continued grant funding and satisfactory job performance.

Outreach: Recruitment/Application and Selection:

*Work with 10KSB team to schedule panelists and applicants for interviews, collect and process application materials and manage applications throughout the application process in Salesforce, including follow-up and continual contact with interested applicants to get them to full completion of all stages of the application process.
*Work with ICIC and 10KSB team to develop, implement and execute an outreach and marketing plan to attract a pipeline of interested and eligible businesses to the program. Identify networking events, venues, and activities targeting small businesses, and in some instances attend these events; make presentations and staff 10KSB information tables in various states.
*Work collaboratively with the 10KSB team to leverage existing knowledge and relationships in the small business development arena; as well as identify opportunities and relationships that will enable the program to ensure participation rates among key targeted business owner populations including women-owned businesses, underserved community businesses, and other program targets.

Program Delivery:

*Provide general program support and assistance to ensure successful face-to-face session delivery, including attending the pre-brief, debrief and walkthrough meetings for each class session in multiple states.
*Work collaboratively with 10KSB team to coordinate facilities, logistics and catering coordination of information sessions, recruiting events, networking events, outreach events, interviews, alumni classes and alumni clinics.

Alumni:

*Attend select modules of the program to meet and network with program participants (future alumni) presenting and answer questions about the alumni program, the program online platform, and to aid in recruitment efforts by soliciting program referrals. Work collaboratively with 10KSB alumni managers at other sites and contribute positively to develop, execute and implement the national alumni program for local graduates of 10KSB.
*Build relationships with program graduates and stay informed and document updates to their businesses (including but not limited to: news, awards, press, challenges, and location/contact information changes). Proactively reach out to alumni to learn about their businesses and any updates and document those updates in the program CRM.
Other additional duties as needed to support program success. These responsibilities are meant to illustrate the typical duties in the role but this list doesn't preclude other responsibilities or duties that could be necessary to be successful in this role.Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Prefer one to two (1-2) years work experience related to program support and event planning
  • Proven ability to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships is essential in this role.
  • A demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences across a wide range of stakeholders and successful experience communicating and collaborating in a diverse setting is required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks/projects at a time while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Works independently to solve problems; looks for opportunities to take on responsibility; takes thoughtful risks; and effectively acts on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain positive results.
  • Anticipates and effectively handles change; demonstrates willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
  • Significant experience with and strong comfortability with technology including proficient computer skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom is essential. Experience with and/or a willingness to learn Google Drive, LivePlan, Canvas and Salesforce is also necessary. Comfortability with social media platforms and other applications is helpful in this role.
