POSITION DEFINITION: Systems Administrator

The individual in this position has the responsibility for providing 24x7 support while ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the enterprise compute infrastructure. The incumbent works as part of a "hands-on" onsite support team who will be responsible for implementing and supporting the server, storage and backup environments. In addition to troubleshooting and problem resolution for operating system and hardware issues, the Systems Administrator will also be responsible for the security of these environments, thorough documentation and implementing industry best practices. The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, leading projects and demonstrating great teamwork.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Deploys best practices for new technologies and implementations as well as knowledge transfer and mentoring to other team members.
  • Physical installation (racking and stacking), and configuration of server, storage and backup hardware to meet performance requirements.
  • Configure and administer the following:
    • Directory Services (Active Directory); group and user management, group policy, DNS, DHCP, etc.
    • VMware server and network virtualization.
    • Storage, fiber channel network and related utilities and tools.
    • Microsoft Exchange, messaging and email security solutions.
    • Back-up solutions, related utilities and tools required.
    • Web proxy and content management solutions.
    • Mobile Device Management solutions.
    • Security for server, storage and backup environments.
    • Domain Name and SSL Certs
  • Conduct OS and firmware upgrades and patching of servers, storage and backup environments.
  • Conduct capacity planning and must be adept at identifying and eliminating performance bottlenecks and making performance-related recommendations (hardware, software, configuration).
  • Plans and tests fault-tolerant solutions, disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Provides 24x7 on-call support for enterprise and able to work with various teams (i.e., Customers, Applications, Desktop, etc.) to resolve issues.
  • Fully documents support calls via call tracking system and follows through until resolution.
  • Covers all aspects of project management including planning and execution as it pertains to the Information Technology infrastructure.
  • Must be willing to travel. No more than 10%-15% of the time.
  • Performs other related duties as required to support Company objectives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (or related discipline).
  • 5 to 10 years hands-on experience as an administrator or engineer in current Windows Server system environments.
  • Hands-on experience in implementation and administration of VMware server and network virtualization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in implementation and administration of storage solution technologies (NetApp preferred).
  • Experience with monitoring solutions (Solarwinds, HPE Systems Insight Manager, etc.).
  • Experience with enterprise server administrative tools such as PowerShell, Exchange Management tools, etc.
  • Experience with cybersecurity compliance, solutions and tools as they pertain to server, storage and backup solutions.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting both application and database issues.
  • Incumbent must be versed in data center technology infrastructure and concepts (environmental, cabling, subnet addressing, etc.).
  • Must be well-versed in overall systems administration; event monitoring, software distribution, automation strategies, troubleshooting, job scheduling, scripting, etc.
  • Must have experience in Production Control disciplines and Change Management
  • Familiarity with formal system deliverables such as project schedules, requirements documents, architecture diagrams and user documentation.
  • Familiarity with office automation software (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Must be able to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction.
  • Must possess excellent problem solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Energetic and self-motivated team player with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with project and infrastructure teams.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws.Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
