Position Highlights The lab of Dr. Xinglong Wang at the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy is inviting qualified applicants to apply for the position of Research Technician II. This position will be responsible for general care and maintenance of the animals in the lab that are used in research. This position will work closely with other member of the lab to conduct experiments, ordering and maintaining lab equipment, lab set-up, and assist in gathering information for manuscripts.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs tissue sectioning and immunohistochemical staining of tissue for stereological analysis. And, responsible for the general care and maintenance of the animals used in research. Additionally, conducting behavioral tests on animals to assess the effects of neurodegenerative diseases or treatments.
  • Assists with other research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assisting with lab ordering, purchasing lab supplies, equipment, and materials. Assist with keeping inventory of materials and restocking when needed.
  • Under supervision, collaborate with the research team and help to gather information for manuscripts, reports, and documentation of research findings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary team environment contributing to join research goals and sharing findings with colleagues.
  • Ability to quickly learn new techniques and adapt to changes in protocols or research focus.
  • In-depth knowledge of biological sciences
  • Knowledge of basic an advance laboratory techniques, including histology, molecular biology assays, and various forms of microscopy.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques, especially concerning laboratory rodents or other models used in neurodegenerative research.
  • Ability to operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, such as PCR machines, centrifuges, electrophoresis setups, and imaging systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of publication, education and work experience.
