Summary of Job Duties:The UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law Center for Racial Justice and Criminal Justice Reform (the Center) was launched in September 2021 to advance racial equity, access to justice, and fairness in Arkansas and the region through academic legal research. The Center is led by faculty Co-Directors and staffed by attorney Program Directors as well as law student researchers. The Program Assistant is a full-time position that provides administrative support to the faculty directors and staff Program Directors in areas such as managing student employment, travel expenses, reimbursement, community engagement, records and budget preparations, correspondence and other clerical duties as assigned. Full-time university employees are eligible for retirement benefits under the university's 403(b) defined contribution plan. Full-time university employees also are eligible to participate in its group medical, group dental, and vision insurance programs.Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree.

  • Two (2) years of experience in business office practices or program administration.

  • Other job-related education or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience as an administrative assistant;

  • Prior experience with Workday.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing budget spreadsheets;

  • Paying invoices;

  • Ordering food and supplies;

  • Processing travel reimbursements;

  • Hiring (position and requisition creation and onboarding);

  • Keeping up with the Center's correspondence;

  • Handling administrative tasks for the Center's LSAT pathway program;

  • Keeping up communication with the Center's funders and monitoring grant opportunities;

  • Working with Bowen's communications director on the Center's graphics, website, and social media;

  • Assist with planning and executing the Center's events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and university rules, regulations, and procedures;

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

  • Proficiency in using Google Docs and Google Mail (Gmail);

  • Knowledge of office-management practices;

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently with common goals as part of a team;

  • Ability and willingness to take initiative in learning and implementing knowledge of office procedures;

  • Ability to demonstrate patience and accuracy in resolving student, faculty, and staff concerns;

  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
