ImmunityBio, Inc. is a late-stage immunotherapy company developing a broad pipeline of next-generation therapies that drive immunogenic mechanisms for defeating cancer and infectious disease. The company's immunotherapy platform is designed to activate both the innate (natural killer cell and macrophage) and adaptive (T cell) immune systems to create long-term "immunological memory." The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted for review ImmunityBio's resubmission of its Biologics License Application (BLA) for N-803, a first-in-class IL-15 superagonist, plus Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) for the treatment of BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer carcinoma in situ (CIS) with or without Ta or T1 disease, and has set a user fee goal date (PDUFA date) of April 23, 2024.

Position Summary

The Controls and Electrical Manager manages the Facilities Controls System and the Electrical distribution system in the Dunkirk NY Facility. The role coordinates and assists with engineering design, installation and modification of the facilities controls systems (Rockwell Automation EMS/PCS, Schneider BMS), 115KV/13KV electrical distribution and applicable network aspects specific to the facility control systems as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Prioritize, plan, develop, design, and implement projects to improve capacity and capabilities, while maintaining cGMP compliance
  • Assist with all projects large or small, capital expenditure projects, new construction and modification / renovations to existing area including manufacturing and future phase development relating to the facility controls and electrical distribution systems.
  • Create open communication with the manufacturing and facilities maintenance group to assure best practices for controls and electrical work habits are developed and followed.
  • Manage the Debug and optimization of automated processes.
  • Oversee and assist when needed with the calibration and updates of systems, ensuring the validated state is in compliance with all regulatory and government regulations.
  • Oversee and assist when needed daily troubleshooting of controls related issues/problems.
  • Ensure that proper investigation and diagnosis of alarms, critical alarms and documentation in corrections and implementation of corrective actions is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Document review to include progressive drawings, submittals and specifications related to controls.
  • Responsible for communication with validation, maintenance, and quality directors as well as contracted architects and engineers on projects and status. Serves as primary point of contact for control systems vendors.
  • System controls include particle temperature, pressure, and humidity monitoring (EMS & PCS systems). Critical path alarms to the Building Management System will require the ability to find root causes.
  • Mentor, train, develop and manage Controls Engineers, Controls Technicians and Senior Electrical Technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline; may consider candidates with 10+ years industry experience in Food Production, Manufacturing, Electrical Controls Operation in lieu of degree.
  • Masters Electrical License
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in pharmaceutical, clean room and/or research and development environment
  • Experience with Utilities, Construction, Management, Production, Process Controls and PLCs required.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in high voltage distribution, power backup systems, low voltage wiring, cabling and switches and electrical applications is required.
  • Rockwell Automation experience preferred (eAdvisory WebServer, FactoryTalk Historian SE, MPAS, PlantPAX, GEMS).
  • Schneider EcoStruxture experience preferred.
  • Continuous Improvement experience a plus (LEAN, TPM)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong leadership ability with the ability to manage the regulatory aspect of a highly regulated industry
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and ladder logic.
  • Knowledgeable of plant operations, production, maintenance, and quality.
  • Proficient with Eaton power distribution equipment, Critical Facility UPS, and Foreseer software.
  • Must understand specific OSHA, DEC, and EPA standards as they relate to the plant environment.
  • Ability to write reports, utilize mobile technology, laptop, PLC's and data base.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal/written skills
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, Auto-Cad and MS Project and or Primavera P6.
  • Strong knowledge of clean rooms, ISO 7 & 8 areas, systems that support these areas, air balance and air pressurization, quality, and validation as they relate to construction and plant operations.
  • Knowledgeable of laboratories and research areas
  • MECO WFIH distribution and production.
  • Waste Water Treatment
  • Ability to positively interact with employees, managers, and internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to develop good concentration on fine details of a project and general operations within the group.
  • Scheduling knowledge is required. Specifically, to review and assess situations to enable schedule advancement as well as schedule recovery, repairs, upgrades, and applications.
  • Strong communication and vendor management skills are required.

Working Environment / Physical Environment

  • This position will need to enter lab environments at times
  • Must be available for off hours and weekend hours for projects as needed
  • Continuous education in specific control platforms is anticipated
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
  • May also be asked to work in confined spaces and in elevated areas

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$108,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $130,000 (highly experienced) annually
