Accounting Generalist

We are currently recruiting for an Accounting Generalist to join the Benchmade Knife Company team. The Accounting Generalist reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager and is a non-supervisory position. The primary responsibility of the Accounting Generalist is processing of accounts payable using a 3-way match process for timely and accurate entry, including resolving discrepancies and recording accuracy rate. This role is also responsible for check runs and maintaining accurate records. This position assists in the responsibility of reconciling customer payments (cash receipts) in the ERPR Systems, SYSPRO. The position is also responsible to assist others in the finance group, and participate in projects as needed.

Responsibilities
    Process vendor invoices using 3 way match, into Syspro ERPR software.
  • Resolve AP discrepancy issues both internal and external.
  • Communicate and maintain positive relationship with vendors and internal partners.
  • Process weekly check run.
  • Maintain accuracy rate tracking system.
  • Apply customer payments (cash receipts such as checks, wires and other electronic payments) in SYSPRO.
  • Ensure accurate application of cash to customer accounts and invoices while observing proper cut-off procedures for allocation to proper months.
  • Assist Credit Analysts in reconciling individual customer accounts.
  • Run A/R & cash journals, invoice registers, and other needed reports.
  • Back up processing employee expense reports and credit card statements.
  • Communicate with customers and employees effectively.
  • Back up and assist others in the finance function.
  • Cross train within the accounting department.
  • Regularly communicates throughout the organization internally to exchange ideas and gather information.
  • Creates standard work instructions for daily tasks.
Qualifications
  • An Associate's Degree in Accounting or other Business related degree, and 3-4 years of experience in the day-to-day activities in accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.
  • Able to perform elementary analysis of accounts receivable.
  • Able to perform accounts payable reconciliation and 3-way match activities.
  • Able to collaborative and positively influence and enhance cross-departmental work processes.
  • Strong computer skills-proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
  • Positive communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented.
  • Well organized, with excellent follow through and time management to routinely meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently, expediently and thoroughly.
  • Energetic and able to process large amounts of information in a short period of time.
  • Must be committed to continuous improvement throughout the department and support company-wide efforts whenever possible.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment, with a consistently positive and helpful attitude.
  • Must demonstrate good attendance and punctuality.

Working Conditions:

  • Working Environment: Office Position
  • Physical Demands: Lifting up to 25 lbs., sitting and talking on the phone and computer for long periods of time.
  • Travel Requirements: As needed, less than 5% of the time.
