Job Description

This position is located in Mandeville, LA, 70471.

The Residential Lending Specialist is an inside sales position responsible for generating sales of home mortgage products through leads and applications obtained through, but not limited to, the retail branch network, internal phone, online referrals and other internal direct-to-customer campaigns.

The position can be located on either the Northshore or the Southshore.

Required:

  • GED or High School diploma
  • 4+ years of experience in home mortgage product sales
  • Proven experience as a Residential Loan Officer lending a variety of mortgage loan types to include Portfolio, FHA, VA, Conventional, Rural Development and Bond
  • Ability to obtain Safe Act certification to perform as a Licensed Residential Mortgage Loan Officer (NMLS)
  • Working knowledge of investor procedures and guidelines
  • Experience with mortgage loan documents including applications and closing documents
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and handle a high volume of loans in the pipeline all in various stages of the loan life cycle
  • Sales-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to professionally interact directly with internal partners and external clients
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field including finance
  • Encompass experience

Specific Job Functions:

  • Responsible for generating sales of home mortgage products through leads and applications obtained through, but not limited to, the retail branch network, internal phone, online referrals and other internal direct to customer campaigns
  • Meet with borrowers, collect financial data and documents, and present the borrower with the best loan product and terms tailored to meet their needs
  • Adhere to a needs-based selling technique
  • Oversee the entire purchase process from the initial loan application through closing, including attending the closing
  • Adhere to all established applicable quality and service guidelines
  • Meet pre-determined production and customer satisfaction targets
  • Nurture relationships with borrowers and referral partners to build long-term relationships
  • Work with loan operations partners as the loan progresses through the loan life cycle
  • Analyze and understand pay stubs and tax returns and calculate debt, business income and rental income to understand and explain to a loan applicant why their loan was approved/not approved
  • Follow credit guidelines to understand findings from credit reports
  • Assist with clearing investor conditions to get loan purchased
  • Complies with regulatory rules and regulations, evidenced through successful completion of training and demonstrated ability
  • Performs other duties as appointed by management
