Job Summary

The Program Coordinators for Residential and Academic Engagement (RAE) provide essential support in the day-to-day management of the residential areas and collaborate across the Office of Residential Experience in the implementation and development of the Residential Experience. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Residential Area Engagement, the Coordinators work with two of the four residential areas to help manage marketing, communications, programmatic efforts, and advise the local student leadership organizations.

Pay: The salary range for this Program Coordinator position is $53,000-56,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.


Principal Accountabilities:

Student Organization Advising

  • Manages area-level student leadership initiatives within the residential experience in conjunction with the Assist. Director for Residential Area Engagement.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to 2 area councils, ensure successful implementation of programming and management of budget
  • Works directly with student leaders on the area council through one-on-one meetings, attending events and executive board meetings.
  • In collaboration with the Assist. Dir., develop on-going opportunities for student leaders to engage in leadership development opportunities
  • Coordinate area council election timelines, processes, and logistical details in collaboration with the Assist. Dir.
  • Liaise with the Student Organization Finance Office to ensure that student accounts are up to date and necessary processes are followed.

Marketing and Communications

  • Support marketing and communications efforts for 2 residential areas in collaboration with each Area Leadership team.
  • Build, coordinate, develop, and distribute a weekly newsletter for 2 residential areas.
  • Manage the area social media accounts for 2 residential areas, including the coordination of content, messaging, and follower campaigns.
  • Create and maintain websites for 2 residential areas.
  • Coordinate and manage access and updates to residential experience platforms that support programmatic efforts. (e.g., Canva, SignUp Genius, etc.)

Program Development and Support

  • Manage day to day operations of the residential areas in collaboration with the Assistant Director, including updates to shared resource sites and manuals.
  • Contribute to the development of the residential experience through targeted partner outreach and program development.
  • Manage logistical support for off-campus excursions planned within the residential areas.
  • Manage satellite office spaces within 2 residential areas, including the coordination of access, scheduling, and marketing efforts.
  • Helps manage the operational needs of residence-based academic offerings, including distribution of academic support/enrichment programs, courses, and course sections across residential buildings.
  • Works with the Office of the Registrar by arranging access for participants and communicating with internal Residential Services stakeholders.
  • Organize student activities in collaboration with other members of the Residential Experience team. Including presence and involvement at student engagement activities (e.g. Wildcat Welcome, Student Move-In, Wildcat Days, Commencement, etc.)

Campus Partnership

  • Work with the Assistant Director to coordinate a robust and diverse slate of area programming. Work will include communication about the nature of the programs, requirements, and essential marketing components.
  • Strengthen partnerships with external resources by defining, promoting, and marketing benefits of participation and involvement with the residential areas.
  • Facilitate new campus-wide initiatives with academic partners.


Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year program/project administration or other relevant experience.


Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Knowledge and understanding of assessment and evaluation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in the context of interpersonal and group relations, strong analytical skills, and strong oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage information, ongoing correspondence, and scheduling.


Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or a related field; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years (at least one in a role working with residential learning communities, academic and/or non-residential learning communities, academic bridge programs, academic program enhancement or academic support programs) in a university housing operation.
  • Experience working with faculty.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
