Position Purpose:

Under supervision, and on a rotating shift and relief basis, performs duties of assigned position within a wastewater treatment plant setting. Work is performed in an industrial environment with frequent, unavoidable exposure in temperatures, fumes, noise, dust, wet, odors and gases. Work is performed on rotating shifts.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, monitor and control equipment listed below whose monitoring devices and controls are located in Area Control Center 5 and the operating floor within the Power House building. Equipment: Gas turbine control panel; Supervisory control board; Electrical switchboard; Dispatch board; Computer control counsels.
  • Visually inspect above listed equipment and operate same equipment by local control, when necessary, maintain logs, and change charts on a fixed time schedule. Adjust systems and controlled equipment to meet management and operational requirements.
  • Respond to equipment problems: shutting down, starting up, standby, and requesting maintenance as appropriate.
  • Maintain record of equipment status.
  • Cogeneration startup, if necessary.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Four years' experience of operating power house equipment in plants containing high-pressure boilers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Communicates effectively via written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • City of Milwaukee First Class Operating Permit required.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
