Overview

For one of its clients located in Puerto Rico, TRC Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scheduler with experience in covering a portfolio of Engineering Procurement and Construction projects, also known as EPC projects, and building/improving/standardizing a solid practice of scheduling.

The Senior Scheduler will have responsibility for scheduling related activities, procedures and processes related to the execution of projects and proposals for the Client. The Senior Scheduler will be assigned to work with several TRC or Client's Project Managers and project teams in developing, updating, and publishing of schedules for projects and proposals. This position will be responsible for the issuing of project and proposal schedules and the monitoring of each schedule, highlighting delays, providing visibility of upcoming milestones and guidance for schedule management.

Additionally, the role is responsible for the creation, implementation and maintenance of department standard operating procedures and performance metrics, maintaining a high degree of external and internal customer service via clear and timely communication and reporting.


Responsibilities

  • As a consultant for the Client, build and maintain strong relationships with Client's business process owners on PMO and Project Controlling side as well as project managers and project controllers themselves.
  • Act as a mainline point of contact for the work management team.
  • Understand the Client's PMO team expectations and priorities on the improvement of the scheduling practice for a portfolio of 400+ projects
  • Implement master schedule templates for various typical project types
  • Link project schedules from different sources together to build and maintain the master schedule
  • Improve and maintain the process, procedures, and job aids that TRC develops for the Client
  • Leveraging a deep expertise on MS Project suite, including Project On-Line (aka PWA) and Project Server, to integrate individual project schedules into a single master database
  • Develop/Implement the addition of custom fields in Microsoft Project Plan and Microsoft Project On-Line necessary to enable the integration inside the master database, and be able to automatically fill some fields
  • Create, monitor, and analyze project schedules in accordance with industry standards. Analyze workloads and resource forecasts.
  • Assist the Project Managers and project team in the development of detailed functional schedules required in the execution of projects. Schedules shall reflect design, procurement and construction workflow and include necessary logic ties to accurately reflect any scheduling impacts and provide accurate forecasts
  • Assist in identifying issues/risk within schedules and work plans, monitor quality of the schedules and corrective actions, and provide continuous support.
  • Analyze internal project schedules to identify trends that can be applied to scheduling forecasts and propose application changes within the tool to support expenditure and project trends identified.
  • Evaluate and monitor the quality process and key performance indicators within area of responsibility, ensuring that every aspect of work and services meet expectations of stakeholders and customers and are consistent with the quality goals of the company.
  • Support the integration of the Client's corporate finance system data with MS Project scheduling data to integrate project estimates with project plans and project actual man-hours and dollars
  • Monitor, analyze and forecast on a regular basis, providing schedule reports including critical path, milestone and short term look ahead reports
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Report any schedule deviations and recommend corrective actions
  • Create and implement resource loaded schedules when required
  • Create and implement cash loaded schedules when required
  • Create and implement schedule based earned value reporting
  • Deliver schedule related training to the PMO and operational staff.
  • Provide effective customer service to internal and external clients
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • On-site presence: Hybrid. 30% on-island to On-site presence as required by the client.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Project Controls, Engineering, Construction Management or Business from an accredited school or University or equivalent related experience is required.
  • Project Management and or Project Controls experience is desired.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of scheduling experience in a regulated utility or EPC environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), task durations, work estimation, Project Online, MS Projects/ Primavera P6, Smartsheets and other scheduling software.
  • Proficiency in the use of Project Online and Microsoft Projects/P6 to provide what-if scenarios, schedule forecasts, milestone reports, status updates, critical path setting, critical path schedules, free and total float analysis, progress curves is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in resource loading to provide baselines and progress curves.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading the integration of project schedule data and project budget data into a centralized system of record
  • Demonstrated experience of contributing to the integration of PM tools (MS Project and Project On-Line) with the Financial ERP
  • Demonstrated communication skills to deal with internal/external clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check work
  • Able to review contract documents/plans to develop schedules that coordinate with the client's Master Schedule
  • Skilled in reviewing contractor schedule submittals.
  • Experience with appropriate standard workplace software tools (Microsoft Office, MS Outlook)

Compensation: Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
