Overview
The Utah State University Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice EmployAbility Clinic seeks a qualified individual to join our team. The USU EmployAbility Clinic is dedicated to finding consumer-driven employment and teaching pre-employment skills to increase greater self-sufficiency and a higher quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This is an hourly position.

  • The individual working in the position would be working one-on-one with students (aged 16-21) who have disabilities in an internship program that runs three times a year in Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters.
  • The Summer program is expected to run 8-9 weeks and the Fall and Spring semesters are expected to run 12-13 weeks. There may be several weeks between semesters with no work.


Responsibilities
The individual working in the position would be working one-on-one with students (aged 16-21) who have disabilities providing the following:
  • Providing on-the-job coaching for clients
  • Writing thorough and professional client reports
  • Building relationships with local employers on the USU campus and potentially other locations


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Job Coaching experience or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to pass USU background check
  • Willing to work with students/people with disabilities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Customized Employment Trained
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities for 2+ years.
  • Good professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Good analytic skills
  • Exceptional social skills

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

Funding Statement

The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
