LSS CHOICES program located in Columbus, Ohio has the goal of interrupting the cycle of domestic violence by responding to those in need, educating our community and advocating for social change. Our new Domestic Violence Shelter has state of the art facilities and programming models and is providing family centered care in a trauma informed care environment. We offer 24-hour crisis information and a referral hotline; temporary shelter; counseling and support groups; legal and community advocacy; and education and training programs all while creating and continuing best-practice programming enhancing the LSS CHOICES goal of Eliminating Domestic Violence.
The Child Care worker serves as a direct service provider to the family members in the shelter. They are responsible for implementing educational, recreational and group activities for children ages newborn to 17 years old; provide support for parent residing at LSS CHOICES shelter; stimulate cooperative and coordinated service delivery; provide a communication link between the Family Service program component and other staff and program areas; provide information and recommendations regarding the quality of services provided while maintaining professional standards in conduct.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Associates degree in child care or related field preferred; High School Diploma or GED with equivalent work experience minimum
Minimum of one year experience working with children
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Experience in providing direct services to children and mothers
Knowledge of early education and child development
Busy shelter environment with regular contact with survivors of domestic violence and their children.
